We made this when we were camping last summer and all of the kids begged to do it again this year.
This recipe captures the essence of summer with juicy Georgia peaches baked under a sweet and fluffy cobbler topping. It’s a simple and delicious dessert that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Fresh Peaches (peeled, sliced) | 6-8 |
Unsalted Butter, melted | 1 stick |
All-Purpose Flour | 1 cup |
Granulated Sugar | 1 cup |
Brown Sugar | 1 cup |
Baking Powder | 1 tablespoon |
Salt | 1/8 teaspoon |
Milk | 1 cup |
Vanilla Extract | 1 teaspoon |
Lemon Juice (from 1/2 lemon) |
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Peaches (5 minutes):
- Peel the peaches and slice them into thin wedges.
- Place the peach slices in a large bowl.
- Squeeze the juice from half a lemon over the peaches and toss to coat. This helps prevent browning and adds a touch of tartness.
-
Preheat Oven and Melt Butter (5 minutes):
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the stick of unsalted butter in a 9×13 inch baking dish and put it in the preheating oven to melt.
- Once melted, remove the dish from the oven and set it aside.
-
Prepare the Batter (5 minutes):
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the milk and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until the batter is smooth and well combined.
-
Assemble the Cobbler (5 minutes):
- Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Don’t stir the batter, it will rise around the peaches as it bakes.
- Arrange the peach slices evenly over the batter.
-
Bake the Cobbler (45-50 minutes):
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.
-
Serve (optional, 10 minutes):
- Allow the cobbler to cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or enjoy on its own!
