👩🍳 Instructions
Step 1: Make the Syrup
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Cook for about 5 minutes until the syrup reaches the “thread stage” (a thin thread forms when lifted with a spoon).
Step 2: Mix in Coconut & Condensed Milk
- Add the flaked coconut and stir to coat evenly.
- Pour in the condensed milk and continue stirring.
- Cook until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the bottom of the pan. You should be able to draw a clear line across the bottom with a spoon.
Step 3: Spread & Set
- Remove from heat and immediately transfer to a greased glass dish.
- Use a spatula to spread the mixture into an even layer.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes to partially set.
Step 4: Slice & Cool
- After resting, cut into squares, rectangles, or fun shapes.
- Allow to cool completely before serving to achieve that perfect chewy texture.
Optional Tip: Add a drizzle of melted chocolate, a sprinkle of chopped nuts, or a dusting of shredded coconut on top for a decorative finish.
