My boyfriend grew up in Kentucky so when came across this recipe looking for a bday treat I knew I had to try it.
These melt-in-your-mouth cookies are perfect for the holidays or a sweet afternoon snack. The buttery dough is rolled in powdered sugar for a delightful sweet and crumbly taste.

Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
White flour | 500 grams |
Iberic pork lard | 200 grams |
White wine | 125 milliliters |
Powdered sugar | 90 grams, plus extra for rolling |
Salt | A pinch |
Instructions:
-
Make the Dough: Combine the flour, lard, white wine, powdered sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix well until a smooth dough forms. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
-
Chill the Dough: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This will make it easier to handle when shaping the cookies.
-
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Shape and Bake: Take the chilled dough out of the refrigerator. Roll small portions of dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 1 inch apart. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden brown on the bottom but still pale on top.
-
Roll in Powdered Sugar: While the cookies are still warm, roll them generously in extra powdered sugar to coat them completely. Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack. For a thicker powdered sugar coating, you can roll them in sugar again after they cool.
-
Serve: Enjoy these snowball cookies with a cup of tea or coffee!
