Ingredients:

Caramel:

Water 1/2 cup

Flan:

Sweetened condensed milk 2 cans (14 oz each)
Whole milk 2 cups
Large eggs 4
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Caramel:

    • Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan.
    • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
    • Stop stirring and let mixture simmer until deep amber in color.
    • Carefully pour caramel into a greased bundt pan or flan mold. Let cool.
  2. Prepare the Flan Mixture:

    • Blend sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, eggs, and vanilla (if using) until smooth.
  3. Bake the Flan:

    • Pour flan mixture over cooled caramel in the prepared pan.
    • Place the pan in a larger baking dish filled halfway with hot water.
    • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 60-75 minutes, or until set.
  4. Cool and Serve:

    • Let flan cool completely before refrigerating for at least 4 hours.
    • To serve, run a knife around the edges and invert onto a serving plate.
