Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Wheat flour | 570g |
Sugar | 1 tablespoon |
Salt | 1 teaspoon |
Dry yeast | 8g |
Warm water | 360ml |
Egg yolk + 1 egg white | 1 |
Vegetable oil | 20ml |
Sesame seeds (optional, for topping) |
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the wheat flour and salt.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
- Pour in the activated yeast mixture, egg yolk, egg white, and vegetable oil. Mix until everything is well combined and a sticky dough forms.
-
Knead the Dough:
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky.
- Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
-
Shape and Second Rise:
- Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air. Transfer it to a lightly floured surface.
- Divide the dough into 12-15 equal pieces, depending on the size you prefer. Shape each piece into a smooth ball.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them for rising.
- Cover the shaped rolls with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise again in a warm place for 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
-
Bake the Rolls:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, beat the remaining egg white. Brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
- Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
-
Cool and Serve:
- Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
- Serve warm with butter or your favorite spread. Enjoy!
