Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Lasagna Noodles

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Add the lasagna noodles and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 8 minutes or until they are al dente.
  • Drain the noodles and set aside.

2. Make the Cream Cheese Sauce

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the softened cream cheese and stir for about 5 minutes until it begins to melt.
  • Add the salt and black pepper, stirring to combine.
  • Gradually whisk in the hot milk until the sauce is smooth.
  • Add 1.5 cups of minced Swiss cheese and stir until melted and the sauce thickens. This should take about 5-10 minutes.
  • Remove the sauce from the heat.

3. Assemble the Lasagna

  • Spread 3/4 cup of the cheese sauce on the bottom of a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  • Layer 1/3 of the lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  • Top with 1/2 of the cooked chicken and 1/2 of the diced ham.
  • Pour 1 cup of the cheese sauce over the chicken and ham.
  • Repeat these layers: add another 1/3 of the noodles, the remaining chicken, ham, and 1 cup of cheese sauce.
  • For the final layer, add the remaining noodles, cover with the rest of the cheese sauce, and sprinkle with the shredded Swiss cheese and bread crumbs.
  • Season with a sprinkle of Italian spice.

4. Bake the Lasagna

  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until the casserole begins to bubble.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the bread crumbs are golden brown.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
