Sugar 1 cup
Oil (or butter/margarine) 180 ml
Pure orange juice 250 ml
Wheat flour 2 cups
Baking powder 1 tablespoon

For the Syrup:

Sugar 1 cup
Pure orange juice 250 ml

Instructions

  1. Make the Cake Batter:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined and the sugar dissolves.
    • Add the oil (or melted butter/margarine) and mix until incorporated.
    • Pour in the orange juice and mix well.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients:

    • Sift the flour into the wet ingredients.
    • Gently fold the flour into the batter until there are no lumps.
    • Add the baking powder and fold it in lightly.
  3. Prepare and Bake the Cake:

    • Grease and flour a bundt pan.
    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
    • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
    • Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Make the Orange Syrup:

    • In a saucepan, combine the sugar and orange juice.
    • Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the syrup thickens slightly.
  5. Finish the Cake:

    • Let the cake cool slightly in the pan.
    • Pour the warm orange syrup over the cake while it’s still in the pan. Let it absorb the syrup.
    • Once cool, carefully unmold the cake onto a serving plate.
