Grandma’s Ground Beef Chow Mein Casserole

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Ground beef, browned and drained 1 pound
Cream of chicken soup 1 (10.5 oz) can
Cream of mushroom soup 1 (10.5 oz) can
Onion, diced 1
Celery, chopped 1 cup
Water chestnuts, drained and chopped 1 (8 oz) can
Uncooked white rice 1 cup
Water 1 ½ cups
Soy sauce 3 tablespoons
Chow mein noodles 5 oz

Instructions:

  1. Prep Oven & Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the 1 pound of cooked ground beef, 1 can of cream of chicken soup, 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, 1 diced onion, 1 cup chopped celery, 1 can of chopped water chestnuts, 1 cup uncooked white rice, 1 ½ cups water, and 3 tablespoons soy sauce.
  3. Bake the Casserole: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the rice is cooked. Remove the foil.
  4. Add Topping & Finish: Sprinkle the 5 oz chow mein noodles evenly over the top of the casserole. Bake uncovered for 10 more minutes, or until the noodles are lightly toasted.
  5. Serve: Let the casserole sit for 5 minutes before serving to allow it to set.
