Ingredients:

Ground Beef 350g / 12oz
Sliced Mushrooms 600g / 1.3lb
Streaky Bacon, chopped 200g / 7oz
Chopped Tomatoes (Polpa) 2 (400g) Tins
Chopped Tomatoes (Polpa) 1 Small Tin (200g)
Onion, diced 1
Garlic Cloves, crushed 4
Worcestershire Sauce 2 Teaspoons
Balsamic Vinegar 2 Teaspoons
Tomato Paste (Kunserva) 1 Tbls
Red Pepper Flakes 1/2 Teaspoon
Fresh Basil, chopped 1/4 Cup
Italian Seasoning 2 Teaspoons
Shredded Mozzarella 200g / 7oz
Parmesan Cheese 1/4 Cup
Salt/pepper To taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bolognese Sauce:
    • Fry chopped streaky bacon until slightly crispy. Set it aside.
    • In the same pan, cook sliced mushrooms and set them aside.
    • In the pan, combine minced beef and diced onions. Add crushed garlic, tomato paste, red pepper flakes, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, bacon, Italian seasoning, and the chopped mushrooms.
    • After a minute, add chopped tomatoes (Polpa). Bring to a boil, then simmer covered for 1 hour.
    • Mix in Parmesan cheese, chopped basil, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Cook the Gnocchi:
    • Boil potato gnocchi in water. Cook for just 1 minute after they come up to the surface, then drain.
  3. Assemble and Bake:
    • In a large baking dish, spread half of the Bolognese sauce.
    • Top with the cooked gnocchi and add the remaining sauce. Mix it gently.
    • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella, extra Parmesan cheese, pepper, and chopped parsley on top.
    • Bake in the oven at 190C/375F for about 45 minutes.
