Ingredients:
Ingredients | Quantity |
---|---|
Honeysuckle bone-in turkey breast | 1 (6-lb) |
Dry onion soup mix | 1 (1-ounce package) |
Butter | 3 tablespoons |
Cornstarch | 2 tablespoons |
Water | 2 tablespoons |
Salt | To taste |
Pepper | To taste |
Instructions:
- Prepare the Turkey: Rinse the thawed turkey breast and pat it dry with paper towels. Remove any excess skin. Rub the entire turkey breast with the dry onion soup mix.
- Set Up the Slow Cooker: Place slices of butter at the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker. Then, carefully place the seasoned turkey breast on top of the butter.
- Cooking Time: Cover the slow cooker and cook the turkey breast on low heat for approximately 7 hours. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the turkey breast. It should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit. If it hasn’t reached this temperature yet, continue cooking until it does.
- Rest the Turkey: Once the turkey breast is fully cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and place it on a serving platter. Loosely cover the turkey with foil and let it rest for about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Make the Gravy: While the turkey is resting, prepare the gravy. Strain the drippings from the slow cooker into a saucepan. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly whisk the slurry into the drippings over medium heat until the gravy thickens and becomes smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Slice the rested turkey breast and arrange it on a platter. Pour the warm gravy over the slices of turkey. Serve hot and enjoy!
