Update on Joe Biden’s Health: Medical Reports Released

“Recent medical reports have revealed that former President Joe Biden has received a diagnosis of a significant health issue affecting his prostate, “aggressive form of prostate cancer”. According to a statement released by his personal office, this issue has unfortunately shown signs of affecting other areas of his body.

The statement detailed, ‘Last week, President Joe Biden underwent an examination due to the discovery of a new growth on his prostate, following his experience of increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he received a diagnosis related to his prostate, specifically characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with spread to the bone.’

The office further clarified, ‘While this diagnosis indicates a more serious form of the health issue, there is a positive aspect: it appears to be responsive to hormone-based treatments, which enables effective management through various options.’

It was also conveyed that Mr. Biden, who is 82 years old, and his family are currently engaged in discussions with his medical team to explore and determine the most appropriate treatment strategies.
Sources indicate that Mr. Biden is currently at his residence in Wilmington, Delaware, this weekend. News outlets have made inquiries to ascertain the location where the former president is receiving medical care.
This news emerges shortly after a spokesperson for Mr. Biden disclosed that the former president had recently been evaluated for a ‘small nodule’ detected on his prostate.
Throughout his time as the nation’s oldest sitting president, concerns regarding his age and health were frequently raised. These concerns were notably amplified following his performance in a debate against Donald Trump in June.
In February 2024, Mr. Biden underwent a comprehensive physical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, conducted by his physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor. At that time, Dr. O’Connor reported ‘no new concerns’ regarding the president’s health and affirmed that he was ‘fit for duty.’
However, even prior to the debate that led to his exit from the 2024 election, insights from a new book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson revealed that aides had observed signs of decline, which were often dismissed or rationalized.
Tapper and Thompson’s book recounts that Biden’s aides had private discussions about the potential need for assistance with mobility during a second term, and an incident where Biden reportedly did not recognize actor George Clooney at a June 2024 fundraiser.
Since leaving the White House, Mr. Biden has maintained a relatively low public profile, though he has begun to make more public appearances. He recently appeared on ABC’s ‘The View’ alongside his wife, Jill Biden, where he addressed suggestions of cognitive decline during his final year in office.
‘They are wrong,’ Joe Biden stated. ‘There is nothing to sustain that.’
Former First Lady Jill Biden added, ‘The people who wrote those books weren’t in the White House with us, and they didn’t see how hard Joe worked every single day. He’d get up, he’d put in a full day and then at night, I’d be in bed reading my book, and he was still on the phone, reading his briefings, working with staff.’
Mr. Biden has been a vocal advocate for increased medical research, particularly following the death of his son, Beau Biden, from a serious illness. He established the ‘Cancer Moonshot’ initiative during his vice presidency, which was later reestablished in 2022 with the objective of ‘ending cancer as we know it.’
‘We’re mobilizing the whole country effort to significantly reduce the number of deaths from this group of diseases in the coming years and boost support for patients and their families. I’m confident in our capacity to do that. I know we can, but it’s not just personal — it’s about what’s possible,’ Biden emphasized last August.”
