Three Envelope Roast

This Three Envelope Roast is a legendary “dump-and-go” slow cooker recipe that delivers an incredible depth of flavor with almost zero prep. By combining zesty Italian herbs, creamy Ranch notes, and savory brown gravy, you create a complex, velvety sauce that tenderizes the chuck roast until it’s pull-apart tender. It is the ultimate solution for a busy weekday or a comforting Sunday dinner.

Step 2: Mix the Gravy: In a small mixing bowl, combine the Italian seasoning, Ranch seasoning, and brown gravy mix. Pour in the 1 cup of water and whisk vigorously until the powders are dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

Step 3: Combine: Pour the gravy mixture directly over the top of the roast. If you are adding optional vegetables like baby potatoes, carrots, or onions, tuck them around the sides of the meat now.

Step 4: Slow Cook: Set the slow cooker to HIGH and cook for 4 hours.

Pro Tip: If you have the time, you can also cook this on LOW for 8 hours for an even more tender, “melt-in-your-mouth” texture.

Step 5: Baste and Finish: Occasionally open the lid and use a large spoon to baste the top of the roast with the juices from the bottom of the pot. Once the meat shreds easily with a fork, it is ready.

Step 6: Serve: Remove the roast to a serving platter and shred it into large chunks. Pour the remaining gravy from the slow cooker over the meat before serving.
