This slow cooker Italian beef recipe is a classic comfort food that’s perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. The tender, flavorful beef and rich gravy make it a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Beef round or rump roast 5 lb
Italian dressing seasoning 2 1-oz packages
Salt 2 tsp
Ground black pepper 2 tsp
Dried oregano 2 tsp
Dried basil 2 tsp
Powdered onion 2 tsp
Dried parsley 2 tsp
Garlic powder 2 ½ tsp
Bay leaves 2
Water 3 cups

Instructions:

  1. Make seasoning mixture: Combine water, Italian dressing seasoning, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, onion, parsley, and garlic powder in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  2. Cook beef: Place roast in a 6-quart slow cooker. Pour boiling seasoning mixture over the roast. Cover and cook on low for 9 hours or high for 4 hours.
  3. Shred beef: Remove bay leaves. Shred beef with two forks inside the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for another 30 minutes.
  4. Serve: Serve on sub sandwich buns with cheese and other toppings. Broil in oven for 1-2 minutes to melt cheese.
