Hubby’s Favorite Dish: A Comforting & Cheesy One-Pan Meal!

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Ground beef (or thinly sliced steak strips) 1 lb
Olive oil 1 tablespoon
Small onion, diced 1
Red bell pepper, sliced 1
Frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn) 1 cup
Garlic powder 1 teaspoon
Onion powder 1 teaspoon
Paprika (smoked paprika adds depth) 1 teaspoon
Salt To taste
Pepper To taste
Cooked elbow macaroni or egg noodles (pre-cooked to save time) 2 cups
Shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheeses) 1 cup
Optional Toppings:
Topping
Fresh parsley
Crushed red pepper
Sour cream

Instructions:

  1. Step 1: Prep Ingredients Dice the 1 small onion and slice the 1 red bell pepper. If you are using uncooked noodles, boil them according to their package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Step 2: Cook the Beef Heat the 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet (one that has a lid and is big enough to hold all ingredients) over medium-high heat. Add the 1 lb ground beef (or thinly sliced steak strips) and cook until it’s completely browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Once browned, drain any excess fat from the skillet. Stir in the 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon paprika, salt, and pepper to taste. Cook for another minute, stirring constantly, to toast the spices and enhance their flavor.
  3. Step 3: Sauté Veggies Add the diced onion and sliced bell pepper to the skillet with the seasoned beef. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables begin to soften. Toss in the 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn) and cook for an additional 3–4 minutes, or until the vegetables are heated through and tender-crisp.
  4. Step 4: Combine Everything Stir in the 2 cups pre-cooked noodles into the skillet with the beef and vegetable mixture. Toss gently to ensure they are evenly distributed throughout the skillet. Remove the skillet from the heat. Evenly sprinkle the 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred mix of cheeses) over the top of the entire mixture.
  5. Step 5: Melt & Serve Cover the skillet with a lid and let it sit for 5 minutes. The residual heat from the skillet will gently melt the cheese into a gooey, delicious layer over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley or crushed red pepper if desired, or add a dollop of sour cream for extra creaminess. Serve hot directly from the skillet.

This “Hubby’s Favorite Dish” is perfect for a satisfying and easy weeknight meal!
