Instructions:
1. Cook the Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add 1 lb of rigatoni pasta to the boiling water.
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente (firm to the bite).
- Drain the pasta and set it aside.
2. Prepare the Sauce
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add 1 diced yellow onion and 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet.
- Sauté until the onion is softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
3. Cook the Italian Sausage
- Add 1 lb of Italian sausage to the skillet.
- Break up the sausage with a spoon as it cooks.
- Cook until the sausage is browned and fully cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
4. Add the Tomato Sauce
- Stir in 1 can (1 lb) of tomato puree.
- Add 1 ½ teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of oregano.
