Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until it is crispy but still slightly chewy. Remove the cooked bacon from the skillet and chop it into smaller pieces. Set the chopped bacon aside.
- Drain most of the grease from the skillet, leaving a little for flavor. Add the diced yellow onion and ground beef to the skillet. Season with steak seasoning, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper to your taste. Cook the ground beef and onion mixture until the beef is no longer pink, which should take about 5-6 minutes.
- Stir the cooked and chopped bacon and the finely chopped green onions into the ground beef mixture. Remove the skillet from the heat and set the filling aside.
- On a clean surface, roll out the French bread dough (or pizza dough) into a rectangle.
- Spread the prepared beef mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around all the edges.
- Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the beef mixture.
- Starting from one of the long sides of the dough, tightly roll it up like a log. Once rolled, tuck the ends of the dough under by about 1/2 inch on each side to seal in the filling.
- Carefully transfer the rolled-up bread to a baking sheet.
- Brush the top of the dough with the melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown.
- Let the Garbage Bread cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
