Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Maple Syrup 1/2 cup
Corn Syrup 1/4 cup
Water 1/4 cup
Granulated Sugar 1/4 cup
Fresh Ginger (peeled, chopped) 1/4 cup
Ground Ginger 1/4 teaspoon
Fine Salt 1/4 teaspoon
Roasted Walnuts (chopped) 1 cup
Vanilla Extract 1 teaspoon
Lemon Juice 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Syrup Base (5 minutes):

    • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the maple syrup, corn syrup, water, granulated sugar, chopped fresh ginger, ground ginger, and salt.
  2. Simmer and Thicken (10-12 minutes):

    • Stir the mixture occasionally and bring it to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 10-12 minutes. The syrup will thicken slightly as it reduces.
  3. Add Walnuts and Simmer (2-3 minutes):

    • Stir in the chopped roasted walnuts and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  4. Flavor and Cool (2 minutes):

    • Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and lemon juice for an extra layer of complexity.
    • Let the Wet Walnut Ice Cream Sauce cool slightly before serving.
  5. Serve and Enjoy!

    • This sauce can be served warm or at room temperature over ice cream, sundaes, pancakes, waffles, or any dessert that needs a touch of sweetness and crunch.
