Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Unsalted Butter 1/2 cup
All-Purpose Flour 1 1/2 cups
Granulated Sugar 3/4 cup
Baking Powder 2 teaspoons
Salt 1/4 teaspoon
Whole Milk 1 cup
Vanilla Extract 1 teaspoon
Ground Cinnamon 1 1/2 teaspoons
Light Brown Sugar 1 1/2 cups
Hot Water 1 3/4 cups

Instructions:

  1. Melted Butter Base:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Place the 1/2 cup of unsalted butter in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Put the baking dish with butter in the preheated oven just long enough to melt the butter completely.
  2. Dry Ingredients:

    • In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and a pinch of salt (¼ teaspoon).
  3. Wet Ingredients and Batter:

    • Slowly add the 1 cup of whole milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dry ingredients in the bowl. Using a whisk or a hand mixer, mix everything together until you get a smooth and well-combined batter.
  4. Pouring the Batter:

    • Carefully pour the prepared batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Important: Do not stir the batter after pouring it over the melted butter.
  5. Snickerdoodle Topping:

    • In a small bowl, combine the 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon with the 1 1/2 cups of light brown sugar. This creates the signature snickerdoodle crumble topping. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the batter in the baking dish. Once again, do not stir the batter or topping.
  6. Hot Water Magic:

    • Carefully and slowly pour the 1 3/4 cups of hot water over the entire mixture in the baking dish. It’s important to pour slowly and avoid disturbing the batter and topping layers. The hot water will create a delicious caramel-like sauce as the cobbler bakes.
  7. Baking Time:

    • Place the baking dish with the cobbler in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes. The cobbler is done when the top is golden brown and the cobbler has set throughout.
  8. Cooling and Serving:

    • Take the cobbler out of the oven and allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. This gives the sauce time to thicken up slightly. Serve the Snickerdoodle Cobbler warm and enjoy!
