Ingredient Quantity
1 pound (450g) ground beef
1 packet (1.25 ounces) taco seasoning mix
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (4.5 ounces) chopped green chilies
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 cans (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 egg, beaten
Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and sliced black olives

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it’s browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning mix, tomato sauce, chopped green chilies, and black beans. Simmer for a few minutes until the mixture is heated through and well combined. Remove from heat.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Arrange them on a baking sheet, slightly overlapping the edges, to form a rectangle.
  5. Spoon the taco meat mixture down the center of the dough rectangle.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the taco meat.
  7. To create the braid, make diagonal cuts about 1 inch wide on both sides of the filling. Fold the dough strips over the filling, alternating sides, to create a braided appearance.
  8. Brush the beaten egg over the top of the braid to give it a golden finish.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the braid is golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.
  11. Serve your Taco Braid with optional toppings like shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and sliced black olives.

Enjoy your Taco Braid, a creative and flavorful twist on classic tacos!
