Sweet Blueberry Biscuits

These Sweet Blueberry Biscuits are a light and tender treat, bursting with the sweet flavor of fresh blueberries. The secret to their flaky texture is using cold, grated butter, which creates pockets of steam as the biscuits bake. How To Make Sweet Blueberry Biscuits

  1. Step 1: Prep & Mix Dry Ingredients: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Step 2: Add Butter: Grate the cold or frozen butter directly into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to quickly work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Step 3: Form the Dough: Add the cold milk and blueberries to the bowl. Gently mix with a spoon or your hands until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix.
  4. Step 4: Shape & Cut Biscuits: Lightly flour a clean surface. Place the dough on the surface and gently roll or pat it out until it is about ¼ to ⅛ inches thick. Using a biscuit cutter, cut approximately 6 biscuits from the dough.
  5. Step 5: Bake Biscuits: Place the biscuits on a baking sheet. Bake for approximately 7 to 12 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
  6. Step 6: Prepare Glaze: While the biscuits are still warm, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, water, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth.
  7. Step 7: Finish & Serve: Remove the biscuits from the oven. Brush the tops of the hot biscuits with melted butter (about 1 tablespoon). Drizzle the glaze over the tops of the biscuits and let it set for a few minutes before serving warm.
