Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Medium head of cabbage 1
Ground beef 1 pound
Onion 1, chopped
Garlic cloves 2, minced
Diced tomatoes 1 can (15 ounces)
Tomato sauce 1 can (8 ounces)
Cooked rice 1 cup
Salt 1 teaspoon
Black pepper 1/2 teaspoon
Paprika 1 teaspoon
Shredded cheddar cheese 1 cup

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook Ground Beef: In a large pan, cook 1 pound of ground beef over medium heat until it’s browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add Onion and Garlic: Add 1 chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves to the pan with the cooked ground beef. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Mix in Tomatoes and Sauce: Stir in 1 can (15 ounces) of diced tomatoes (with juice) and 1 can (8 ounces) of tomato sauce into the beef mixture.
  5. Add Rice and Seasonings: Mix in 1 cup of cooked rice, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of paprika. Combine everything well.
  6. Layer Cabbage and Beef Mixture: In a large casserole dish, layer half of a medium head of chopped cabbage on the bottom. Then, spread half of the beef mixture over the cabbage. Repeat with the remaining cabbage and beef mixture.
  7. Cover and Bake: Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Add Cheese and Bake Again: After 45 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole. Put the dish back in the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Cool and Serve: Once the cheese is melted and the casserole is hot throughout, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious cabbage casserole!
