Slow Cooker Mincemeat Recipe

This recipe provides a simple and delicious method for making homemade mincemeat using a slow cooker. The slow cooker gently simmers the dried fruits and spices, creating a rich and flavorful filling perfect for pies, tarts, and other holiday treats.

Raisins 2 cups
Currants 2 cups
Dried Cranberries 1 cup
Chopped Dried Figs 1 cup
Chopped Dried Apricots 1/2 cup
Chopped Dried Dates 1/2 cup
Apple, peeled, cored, and grated 1 large
Brown Sugar 1/2 cup
Granulated Sugar 1/2 cup
Unsalted Butter, cut into pieces 1/2 cup
Orange Juice 1/2 cup
Lemon Juice 1/4 cup
Ground Cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon
Ground Nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon
Ground Allspice 1/4 teaspoon
Ground Cloves 1/4 teaspoon
Brandy (optional) 1/2 cup

Instructions:

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: Add raisins, currants, cranberries, figs, apricots, dates, grated apple, brown sugar, and granulated sugar to the slow cooker.
  2. Add Liquids and Spices: Pour in melted butter, orange juice, and lemon juice. Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally, until fruits are softened.
  4. Add Brandy (Optional): Stir in brandy if using.
  5. Store: Let cool slightly. Spoon into sterilized jars and seal. Refrigerate up to 1 month or store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.
