Instructions:
- Get the Dough Ready: In a large mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour and mayonnaise. Start by mixing with a spoon, then switch to your hands to finish mixing until a smooth, non-stick dough is achieved. The dough should be pliable and easy to work with.
- Building the Foundation (Crust): Lightly grease a 24×6-centimeter springform pan (or a similar-sized pie dish) with oil or margarine. Transfer the prepared dough to the pan. Use your hands to press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the pan, forming a uniform crust.
- Prepare & Add the Filling: In a separate bowl, combine the 2 minced tomatoes, 2 finely chopped garlic cloves, 1 drained can of corn, and the 2 grated Calabrese sausages. Mix well to combine all the ingredients to taste. Dot the pie crust evenly with this filling mixture, spreading it out.
- Finishing Touches (Topping) & Bake: In a separate dish, whisk the 3 egg yolks until they are frothy. Slowly add half of the 300g container of cream to the whisked eggs and continue beating until well combined. (Save the other half of the cream for other uses, or you can adjust to use it all if you want a richer topping.) Pour this egg and cream topping evenly over the filling in the pie crust. Scatter the 100g diced mozzarella cheese on top of the cream mixture. Bake in a preheated oven set to 160°C (320°F) for about 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set.
- Finishing and Serving Steps: After baking, take the pie out of the oven and allow it to cool somewhat in the pan. If using a springform pan, release the sides and carefully remove the pie from the pan. Slice and relish your tasty savory pie! It’s fantastic served warm.
