Roasted Parmesan Creamed Onions Recipe

This recipe creates a simple yet elegant side dish. The onions become incredibly tender and sweet while the cream sauce infuses them with rich flavor.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Sweet Onions (large, peeled, sliced 1/2 inch thick) 4
Extra Virgin Olive Oil 3 tbsp
Heavy Cream 1 cup
White Wine 1/4 cup
Grated Parmesan Cheese 1/4 cup
Salt To taste
Pepper To taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare onions: Arrange the onion slices in a single layer in a parchment-lined baking dish. Try to keep the onion rings together as much as possible.
  3. Season onions: Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Heat cream mixture: In a saucepan, combine heavy cream and white wine. Heat over medium heat until the edges of the cream begin to simmer. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. Add cream mixture: Carefully pour the cream mixture over the roasted onions.
  6. Top with cheese: Sprinkle evenly with grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Cover and bake: Cover the baking dish tightly with foil and return to the oven. Bake for 20 minutes.
  8. Uncover and roast: Carefully remove the foil and continue roasting for an additional 5 minutes, or until the onions begin to brown and caramelize.
  9. Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
