Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Lean ground beef 1 lb
Yellow onion, finely diced 1
Green pepper, chopped 1
Salt ½ teaspoon
Cornstarch 1 tablespoon
Beef broth 1 cup
A.1. Sauce ¼ cup
Steak seasoning 1 teaspoon
Sliced provolone cheese As needed
Hamburger buns, sliders, etc. As needed

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Meat & Vegetables: In a skillet pan, over medium-high heat, cook and crumble the 1 lb ground beef along with the 1 finely diced yellow onion, 1 chopped green pepper, and ½ teaspoon salt. Cook until the beef is no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Make the Sauce: Stir the 1 tablespoon cornstarch into the ground beef mixture until the meat is coated. Add the 1 cup beef broth, ¼ cup A.1. Sauce, and 1 teaspoon steak seasoning. Stir everything together and bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Simmer & Thicken: Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low. Let the mixture simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. The sauce should thicken as it cooks and will thicken even more once it’s removed from the heat.
  4. Toast the Buns: While the meat is simmering, preheat your oven broiler. Arrange the hamburger buns on a cookie sheet and butter each bun lightly. Broil the buns for just a few minutes, watching them carefully to prevent them from burning.
  5. Assemble & Melt Cheese: When the meat is ready, use a slotted spoon to scoop the mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a slice of provolone cheese on the top bun. Broil for a few more minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Place the top bun with the melted cheese on top of the bottom bun with the sloppy joe mixture. Serve and eat warm!

Note: This recipe is for a quick and easy sloppy joe variation and is not meant to be a traditional Philly cheesesteak.
