Ingredients:

Ingredient Amount
Large Cabbage ½ (shredded)
Ground Beef 1 lb.
Rice ½ cup (uncooked)
Large White Onion ½ (chopped)
Tomato Sauce 15 oz.
Beef Broth 15 oz.
Garlic 2 tsp. (minced)
Salt To taste
Pepper To taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready when you need it.
  2. Brown the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown 1 lb. of ground beef until it’s fully cooked. Add 2 tsp. of minced garlic to the skillet just before removing the beef. Once browned, drain any excess fat.
  3. Prepare the Cabbage Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ½ large shredded cabbage, ½ large chopped white onion, ½ cup of uncooked rice, 15 oz. of tomato sauce, 15 oz. of beef broth, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything together until well combined.
  4. Incorporate the Beef: Add the cooked ground beef to the cabbage mixture in the mixing bowl. Stir until the beef is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  5. Layer in a Baking Pan: Transfer the cabbage and beef mixture into a 9×9 inch baking pan, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Optional: Add Cheese Layer: For extra flavor, you can optionally add a layer of shredded cheese on top of the cabbage and beef mixture in the baking pan.
  7. Cover and Bake: Cover the baking pan with aluminum foil to lock in moisture. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour.
  8. Stir and Continue Baking: After 1 hour, remove the foil cover and give the contents of the pan a gentle stir. If needed, adjust the baking time and continue baking for an additional 15-30 minutes until the rice is fully cooked, and the cabbage is soft.
  9. Check for Doneness: Before serving, ensure that the rice is cooked through, and the cabbage is tender. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  10. Serve and Enjoy: Once done, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve portions onto plates and enjoy your delicious One-Skillet Cabbage Roll Casserole With Beef!
