Ingredients:

Ingredients Amount
All-purpose flour 1 ½ cups
Salt ¼ teaspoon
Baking soda ¼ teaspoon
Unsalted butter (room temp) 1 stick
Granulated sugar ¾ cup
Large egg (room temp) 1
Pure vanilla extract 2 teaspoons

Instructions:

  1. Begin by whisking together the flour, salt, and baking soda in a medium-sized bowl. Set this mixture aside.
  2. In the bowl of your mixer, combine the room temperature butter and granulated sugar. Mix on high speed until the mixture becomes fluffy and smooth, which typically takes around 4-5 minutes.
  3. Reduce the mixer speed to medium and add in the room temperature egg and pure vanilla extract. Beat the mixture until everything is well incorporated.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the mixer in three intervals, beating after each addition to ensure thorough incorporation.
  5. Once the dough is well mixed, turn off the mixer and transfer the dough to a Ziploc bag. Refrigerate the dough for at least one hour to allow it to firm up.
  6. After the dough has chilled, preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Line your cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Using a measuring tablespoon, scoop out portions of the cookie dough and roll them into balls. Gently press the center of each ball with your thumb to flatten slightly, then place them on the prepared tray.
  9. Repeat this process for the remaining dough, ensuring there is at least 1 1/2 inches of space between each cookie.
  10. Bake the cookies for 9-11 minutes or until they turn golden brown around the edges. Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
