Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Spaghetti | 1 (8 ounce) package |
Lean ground beef | 1 pound |
Spaghetti sauce | 1 (16 ounce) jar |
Butter, sliced | ½ cup (divided) |
Cottage cheese | 1 (8 ounce) container |
Cream cheese, softened | 1 (8 ounce) package |
Sour cream | ¼ cup |
Shredded sharp Cheddar cheese | 1 (8 ounce) package |
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti in the boiling water until it is cooked through but still firm to the bite (al dente), about 12 minutes. Drain the cooked spaghetti.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the lean ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until it is browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off any grease from the skillet.
- Transfer the cooked ground beef to a bowl and mix in the spaghetti sauce. Set aside.
- Place half of the sliced butter into the bottom of a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
- Spread half of the cooked spaghetti evenly over the butter in the dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the cottage cheese, softened cream cheese, and sour cream until well combined.
- Spread the cottage cheese mixture evenly over the layer of spaghetti in the casserole dish.
- Cover the cottage cheese mixture with the remaining half of the cooked spaghetti.
- Top the second layer of spaghetti with the remaining slices of butter.
- Pour the ground beef and spaghetti sauce mixture evenly over the top layer of spaghetti.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove the casserole from the oven and spread the shredded sharp Cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Return the casserole to the oven and continue baking until the cheese has melted and is lightly browned, about 15 minutes more.
- Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
