Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Spaghetti 1 (8 ounce) package
Lean ground beef 1 pound
Spaghetti sauce 1 (16 ounce) jar
Butter, sliced ½ cup (divided)
Cottage cheese 1 (8 ounce) container
Cream cheese, softened 1 (8 ounce) package
Sour cream ¼ cup
Shredded sharp Cheddar cheese 1 (8 ounce) package

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti in the boiling water until it is cooked through but still firm to the bite (al dente), about 12 minutes. Drain the cooked spaghetti.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the lean ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until it is browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off any grease from the skillet.
  4. Transfer the cooked ground beef to a bowl and mix in the spaghetti sauce. Set aside.
  5. Place half of the sliced butter into the bottom of a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
  6. Spread half of the cooked spaghetti evenly over the butter in the dish.
  7. In a separate bowl, mix together the cottage cheese, softened cream cheese, and sour cream until well combined.
  8. Spread the cottage cheese mixture evenly over the layer of spaghetti in the casserole dish.
  9. Cover the cottage cheese mixture with the remaining half of the cooked spaghetti.
  10. Top the second layer of spaghetti with the remaining slices of butter.
  11. Pour the ground beef and spaghetti sauce mixture evenly over the top layer of spaghetti.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  13. Remove the casserole from the oven and spread the shredded sharp Cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  14. Return the casserole to the oven and continue baking until the cheese has melted and is lightly browned, about 15 minutes more.
  15. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
