-
Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
-
Cream the 1 cup butter and 2 cups sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
-
Add in the 3 eggs, one at a time, mixing well between eggs.
-
Switching to a low speed on the mixer, slowly add the 1 cup buttermilk.
-
Combine the 1 tsp maple extract, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1 tsp baking powder and mix well into the batter, ensuring they are incorporated well.
Second Step: Finish Dough and Bake

-
Slowly add in half of the 4 1/2 cups flour, mixing well, then add the remaining flour gradually until a consistent dough is formed.
-
Drop a cookie scoop of dough on the tray, leaving about 2 inches between scoops.
-
Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 6 to 8 minutes, just until slightly golden on the edges. DO NOT OVERBAKE.
-
Remove the tray from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before taking them off the tray. Place the cookies on a wire rack to cool completely.
Third Step: Prepare Icing
-
To make the icing, melt the 1/2 cup unsalted butter and 1 cup brown sugar in a pan over medium high heat, stirring constantly.
-
Add in the 1/4 cup milk, 2 tbsp maple syrup, and 1 pinch of salt and blend well.
-
Remove from the heat and let cool for 10 to 15 minutes.
-
Gradually add in the 2 cups confectioners sugar, beating well. If the icing is too thick, add a drop of milk at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
Fourth Step: Frost and Store
-
Spread the icing over the cookies quickly, as the icing will thicken rapidly.
-
Place the cookies into an airtight container for storage until serving. Enjoy!
