It is the yummiest apple cake ever and one of my very favorite cakes to make as everyone loves it!
This moist and flavorful sheet cake is bursting with the sweet and tart flavors of apples and caramel. The crunchy pecans add a delightful texture to every bite.

Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Eggs | 2 |
Vegetable oil | 1 cup |
Sugar | 1 3/4 cups |
Self-rising flour | 2 1/4 cups |
Vanilla | 1 teaspoon |
Chopped apples, peeled | 3 cups |
Chopped pecans | 1 cup |
Cinnamon | 1 teaspoon |
Butter | 1/3 cup |
Dark brown sugar, firmly packed | 2/3 cup |
Milk | 1/3 cup |
Powdered sugar | 3 cups |
Vanilla | 1 teaspoon |

Instructions:
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Grease a 13×9 inch baking pan.
- Mix cake batter: In a large bowl, beat the eggs, then add the vegetable oil and sugar. Stir until well blended. Stir in the remaining cake ingredients and mix thoroughly.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until the cake begins to pull away from the sides of the pan. Let cool completely.
- Make caramel icing: In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Stir in the dark brown sugar and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the milk and continue cooking until the mixture boils, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and gradually stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla. If the icing is too thick, add a little more milk.
- Frost and serve: Spread the caramel icing over the cooled cake. Garnish with pecan halves, if desired. Serve and enjoy!
