Turtle Bars are a decadent dessert that features a buttery shortbread crust, a rich caramel layer, and a decadent chocolate topping. The chopped pecans add a delightful crunch, making these bars a satisfying and irresistible treat.



Ingredient Quantity
All-purpose flour 2 cups
Unsalted butter, softened 1 cup
Powdered sugar 1/2 cup
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Sweetened condensed milk 1 can (14 ounces)
Packed brown sugar 1 cup
Unsalted butter 2 tablespoons
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Chopped pecans 1 1/2 cups
Semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 cup


  1. Preheat your oven and prepare your baking dish.
  2. Combine the dry ingredients for the crust and mix until crumbly. Press the mixture into the pan and bake until lightly golden.
  3. While the crust bakes, make the caramel layer by simmering sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, butter, and vanilla extract in a saucepan.
  4. Pour the hot caramel over the baked crust and sprinkle with chopped pecans. Bake again until bubbly.
  5. Remove the bars from the oven and top with chocolate chips. Let them melt slightly before spreading into an even layer.
  6. Cool the bars completely, then cut and enjoy!
