Instructions:
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and applesauce.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until well combined. Fold in the chopped apples.
- Bake the Fritters: Scoop 1 tablespoon of batter into mounds a few inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from oven.
- Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together all glaze ingredients.
- Glaze and Broil: Brush some glaze over each fritter and let it drip down the sides. Broil on high for 2-4 minutes, rotating the baking sheet every minute, until the glaze caramelizes.
- Finish Glazing: Brush the remaining glaze evenly over the broiled fritters. Let set on the baking sheet until the glaze hardens, about 15 minutes.
