Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Cauliflower, riced | 1 large head (about 4 cups) |
Shredded mozzarella cheese | 1 cup |
Parmesan cheese, grated | 1/4 cup |
Egg | 1 |
Italian seasoning | 1 teaspoon |
Garlic powder | 1/2 teaspoon |
Salt | 1/4 teaspoon |
Black pepper | 1/4 teaspoon |
Cooking spray or parchment paper | – |
Marinara sauce for dipping (optional) | – |
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
- Take the riced cauliflower and steam it until soft, about 5-7 minutes. Once steamed, place it in a kitchen towel and wring out as much moisture as possible – this step is crucial to ensure your breadsticks are not soggy.
- In a large bowl, combine the drained cauliflower, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
- Spread the cauliflower mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping it into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden and firm to the touch.
- Remove from oven and slice into ‘breadstick’ shapes. If desired, you can sprinkle additional cheese on top and return to the oven for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving with your choice of dipping sauce.
