Instructions:
- Prepare baking dish: Thoroughly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Set aside.
- Brown the butter: In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring often, until small specks of brown appear at the bottom of the pot and the butter has a nutty aroma. This browned butter adds a depth of flavor to the treats.
- Melt marshmallows: Turn the burner to the lowest setting. Stir in the salt, vanilla extract, and 10 cups of the mini marshmallows. Mix continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove the pot from the heat.
- Combine with cereal: Add the Rice Krispies cereal to a large bowl. Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the cereal. Using a greased spatula, mix until the cereal is evenly coated.
