Thinly sliced steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and melty provolone cheese are all wrapped up in a crispy egg roll shell. Perfect for a party appetizer, game day snack, or a fun twist on a classic!

Sirloin strips (lean) or other thinly sliced beef 1 lb
Green pepper (large) 1, diced
Onion (medium) 1, diced
Egg 1, beaten
Provolone cheese slices 1 package (8 oz) or shredded
Egg roll wrappers 8 (Nasoya brand recommended)
Montreal steak seasoning To taste (McCormick Grill Mates recommended)
Cooking spray (Olivio Buttery Spray recommended)
Vegetable oil (for deep frying) (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Sauté the Vegetables:

    • Heat a pan over medium heat with a drizzle of oil or a few sprays of cooking spray.
    • Sauté the diced green pepper and onion until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Cook the Steak:

    • Add the thinly sliced steak to the pan with the vegetables.
    • Season generously with Montreal steak seasoning.
    • Cook over medium heat until the steak is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Assemble the Egg Rolls:

    • Let the filling cool slightly, about 10 minutes.
    • Lay out the egg roll wrappers on a flat surface.
    • Brush the edges of each wrapper with beaten egg to create a seal.
  4. Fill and Fold:

    • Place about 2 tablespoons of the steak and vegetable mixture in the center of each wrapper.
    • Top with a slice of provolone cheese.
    • Fold the bottom of the wrapper up halfway over the filling.
    • Fold in both sides, then fold the top down, sealing the egg roll with a dab of beaten egg.
  5. Cooking Options:

    • Deep Fry (optional): Heat vegetable oil in a large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the egg rolls in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
    • Air Fry: Preheat air fryer to 390°F (199°C). Spray the outside of the egg rolls with cooking spray and cook for 12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
    • Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Spray the outside of the egg rolls with cooking spray and bake for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Let the egg rolls cool slightly before serving.
    • Enjoy with a dipping sauce of your choice, like a mayonnaise and horseradish mixture.
