Ingredients

Category Ingredient Amount
Dry Ingredients All-purpose flour (divided use) 6 cups (3 cups first, 3 later)
Extra flour (for kneading) 1/2 cup
Wet Ingredients Eggs, beaten 3 large
Pineapple juice (room temp) 2 cups
Sugar or Splenda 3/4 cup
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Melted butter 1/2 cup (8 tablespoons)
Leavening Active dry yeast 2 packets (0.25 oz each)

Instructions

1. Mix the wet ingredients
Beat the eggs until smooth. Stir in the pineapple juice, sugar, vanilla, and melted butter until fully combined.

2. Build the base dough
In a large mixing bowl, add 3 cups of flour. Gradually incorporate the wet mixture into the flour, stirring until smooth.

3. Activate the yeast
Add the yeast and mix well to distribute it evenly.

4. Finish the dough
Mix in the remaining 3 cups of flour bit by bit. Once it gets too thick to stir, knead by hand until a soft dough forms.

5. Adjust consistency
If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle in a tablespoon of flour at a time. You want it slightly tacky but manageable.

6. First rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

7. Knead and shape
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead with the extra 1/2 cup flour for 10–15 turns. Shape into rolls or form into loaves and place in buttered baking pans.

8. Second rise
Cover again and let rise. Rolls need about 1 hour, loaves closer to 90 minutes—both should double in size.

9. Bake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and deliciously aromatic.

10. Finish with flair
Once out of the oven, brush the tops with melted butter for that glossy finish and extra depth of flavor. Serve warm and watch them vanish.
