Ingredient Quantity
All-purpose flour 2 cups
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Sugar 3-4 tablespoons
Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon
Yeast 1 tablespoon
Melted butter 4 tablespoons
Lukewarm milk 1 cup
Powdered sugar 2 cups
Water 3-4 tablespoons
Vanilla extract 1/2 tablespoon
Semi-sweet chocolate or chocolate chips 1/2 cup
Heavy cream 3 tablespoons
Unsalted butter 2 tablespoons (30g)
Directions
  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and vanilla essence.
    • Add the melted butter and mix well.
    • Gradually add the lukewarm milk, kneading the dough until smooth.
  2. Let the Dough Rise:
    • Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 2-3 hours.
  3. Shape the Donuts:
    • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick.
    • Use a glass to cut out donut shapes and a small cap or round cookie cutter for the donut holes.
  4. Cook the Donuts:
    • Fry the donuts in low to medium heat until golden brown on both sides. Alternatively, bake at 180°C (350°F) for 12-15 minutes, or according to your oven settings.
  5. Drain the Donuts:
    • Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a wire rack over a baking sheet to drain excess oil, or on paper towels to absorb the oil.
  6. Make the Donut Glaze:
    • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and water until smooth.
  7. Make the Chocolate Glaze:
    • In a small mixing bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate or chocolate chips with heavy cream and unsalted butter until smooth.
  8. Glaze the Donuts:
    • Dip the tops of the donuts into the glaze and place them back on the wire rack to cool and allow the glaze to harden. Add sprinkles if desired.
  9. Enjoy:
    • Serve and enjoy your homemade donuts!
