It’s evident that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are experiencing strained relations with King Charles and the remainder of the Royal Family. Frogmore Cottage has served as a royal abode since 1792. Erected in the 1680s, the moniker was derived from the abundance of amphibians in the vicinity. Over the years, numerous members of the Royal Family have called it home. Queen Charlotte, consort of George III, initially acquired Frogmore Cottage as a rural retreat for her family, and later, it became the abode for the Duchess of Kent. The mother of Queen Victoria was interred in a mausoleum on its grounds.

In the 1980s, Frogmore underwent refurbishment and redecoration. And approximately four decades later, it welcomed two new occupants: Harry and Meghan.

The couple undertook renovations of the regal estate at a cost of approximately $3 million. Upon relinquishing their royal duties, Harry and Meghan pledged to reimburse the entire sum to UK taxpayers. Nevertheless, they retained Frogmore Cottage as their UK base for visits.

Reportedly, the royal abode had been the “solely secure refuge in the country” for Harry and Meghan since stepping back from their royal obligations, as they forfeited the privilege of police protection in the nation.

However, events took an unexpected turn. Just days after the release of Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” last January, King Charles made a definitive decision regarding the fate of the property.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan subsequently confirmed their eviction from Frogmore Cottage.

“We can affirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been instructed to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage,” the spokesperson informed Vanity Fair.
