Goodness gracious! I made this as a side, and it disappeared in the blink of an eye

Golden Onion Butter Rice is a delicious and easy way to elevate your rice game. Caramelized onions add a touch of sweetness and depth of flavor, while butter and garlic create a rich and comforting base. This recipe is perfect as a side dish for any protein, or it can even be enjoyed on its own.

Ingredient Quantity
Jasmine rice, rinsed 2 cups
Chicken broth 3 cups
Yellow onion, thinly sliced 1 large
Unsalted butter 4 tablespoons
Olive oil 1 tablespoon
Garlic cloves, minced 2
Salt 1 teaspoon
Black pepper 1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric (optional) 1/4 teaspoon
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

  1. Sauté the sliced onions slowly in olive oil until caramelized and golden brown. This takes about 20-25 minutes.
  2. Melt butter in a separate saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for a minute.
  3. Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan with butter and garlic, coating the rice grains.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, add the caramelized onions, salt, pepper, and turmeric (if using).
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  6. Let the cooked rice sit covered for an additional 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve!
