Condensed French onion soup 1 can
Sour cream 8 oz
French onion soup mix 1 packet
Dried thyme 1 teaspoon
Black pepper ½ teaspoon
Worcestershire sauce 2 teaspoons
Shredded Swiss or mozzarella cheese 3 cups (divided)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven & Combine Ingredients: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). In a 9×13-inch baking dish, combine the 2 cups uncooked orzo, 3 ½ cups vegetable broth, 1 can condensed French onion soup, 8 oz sour cream, 1 packet French onion soup mix, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, ½ teaspoon black pepper, 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, and 1 ½ cups of the shredded Swiss or mozzarella cheese (reserving the other 1 ½ cups for later). Stir all ingredients thoroughly to ensure they are well combined.
  2. First Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes.
  3. Second Bake with Cheese Topping: Remove the dish from the oven. Evenly top the orzo bake with the remaining 1 ½ cups of shredded cheese. Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
  4. Serve: Serve the French Onion Orzo Bake right away while hot and cheesy. You can top with extra Parmesan cheese if desired for an added layer of flavor.

This bake makes a fantastic side dish or a satisfying main course. Enjoy!
