Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Russet potatoes | 4 large |
Olive oil | 2 tablespoons |
Sea salt | 1 teaspoon |
Black pepper | ½ teaspoon |
Paprika (optional) | ½ teaspoon |
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease them.
- Wash and peel the potatoes (optional). Using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife, thinly slice the potatoes for even cooking.
- Soak the potato slices in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes. This removes excess starch, resulting in crispier chips.
- Drain the potato slices and pat them dry thoroughly with a clean towel. Moisture will prevent them from crisping.
- In a large bowl, toss the potato slices with olive oil until each slice is evenly coated.
- Arrange the potato slices in a single layer on the baking sheets. Sprinkle them with sea salt, black pepper, and paprika (if using).
- Bake for 15-20 minutes in the preheated oven, flipping the slices halfway through for even browning. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning. The chips are done when golden brown and crispy.
- Once baked, remove the chips from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your homemade potato chips with your favorite dip or alongside a meal!
