Easy Breakfast Sausage Casserole Recipe

Ingredients:

Breakfast sausage 1 lb
Onion, chopped (optional) 1 medium
Eggs 6 large
Whole milk (or half and half) 2 cups
Salt 1 teaspoon
Black pepper 1/2 teaspoon
Ground mustard (optional) 1 teaspoon
Bread, cubed 6 slices
Shredded cheddar cheese 2 cups
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional) 2 tablespoons

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

  2. Cook sausage: Cook sausage in a skillet until browned. Drain excess grease. Add onion (optional) and cook until softened.

  3. Prepare egg mixture: Whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and mustard.

  4. Assemble casserole:

    • Layer bread cubes in the baking dish.
    • Top with sausage mixture.
    • Sprinkle with 1 1/2 cups cheese.
    • Pour egg mixture over the layers.
    • Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese.
  5. Bake: Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
