How To Make Overnight Crème Brûlée French Toast:
Step 1: Prepare Caramel Base: In a small saucepan, melt the 1/2 cup butter over medium heat. Add the 1 cup brown sugar and 2 tablespoons corn syrup, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Pour this mixture immediately into a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Step 3: Prepare Custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 5 large eggs, 1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon Grand Marnier (if using), and 1/4 teaspoon salt until well combined.
Step 4: Soak Overnight: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread slices. Gently press down on the bread so it absorbs the custard. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours.
Step 5: Bake: Preheat the oven to 350F (175C). Remove the plastic wrap from the baking dish and let it sit at room temperature while the oven preheats. Bake the French toast in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
Step 6: Serve: Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. For an extra touch, sprinkle the 1/4 cup granulated sugar over the top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize it until golden and crisp.
