Chicago-Style Bakery Apple Slices

Lemon Juice 2 tablespoons

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough: Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter. Gradually add water. Knead into a ball. Divide into two portions, wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Filling: Toss apples with sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice.
  3. Roll Out the Dough: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 10×15-inch pan. Roll out one dough disk, transfer to pan.
  4. Add the Filling: Spread apple filling over the dough.
  5. Roll Out the Top Crust: Roll out the second dough disk, place over the filling. Seal edges. Brush with egg wash. Cut slits.
  6. Bake: Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and apples are tender.
  7. Cool and Serve: Let cool in the pan. Serve warm or at room temperature.
