Cheese and Onion Sausage Rolls Recipe

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Olive Oil 1 tablespoon
Onion, finely chopped 1 medium
Sausage Meat (or uncooked sausages, casings removed) 1 lb (450g)
Cheddar Cheese, grated 1/2 cup
Parmesan Cheese, grated 1/4 cup
Dried Thyme 1 teaspoon
Garlic Powder 1/2 teaspoon
Salt and Pepper To taste
Puff Pastry, thawed 1 sheet
Egg, beaten 1
Sesame Seeds or Poppy Seeds (optional) For topping

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:

    • Sauté the onion in olive oil until softened and golden.
    • Combine sausage meat, sautéed onion, cheeses, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well.
  2. Assemble the Sausage Rolls:

    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Cut puff pastry in half lengthwise.
    • Divide sausage mixture in half. Place each portion down the center of a pastry strip.
    • Brush edges of pastry with egg. Fold over filling, pressing to seal.
    • Cut each roll into 2-3 inch pieces.
    • Score tops lightly. Brush with egg and sprinkle with seeds (optional).
  3. Bake the Sausage Rolls:

    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Cool and Serve:

    • Let cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
