Can’t stop making them! They are so good. I used salted butter and left out the salt for the dough!

These classic Brown Sugar Amish Cookies are soft, chewy, and bursting with warm cinnamon flavor. They’re incredibly simple to make and perfect for any occasion. Optionally, you can add a drizzle of maple glaze for an extra touch of sweetness.

Unsalted butter, softened 1 cup
Powdered sugar 1/2 cup
Large egg 1
Cinnamon 2 teaspoons
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Baking soda 1/2 teaspoon
Salt 1/4 teaspoon

Glaze Ingredients (Optional)

Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Maple syrup 1/4 cup
Milk 1/2-1 tablespoon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl or stand mixer, cream together the butter and both sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. If desired, chill the dough for 30-40 minutes.
  5. Scoop the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between cookies.

  7. For the glaze (optional): In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Stir in the maple syrup until smooth. Add milk by the tablespoonful if needed to reach desired consistency. Drizzle over cooled cookies.
