Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Ground beef 1 pound
Tomato sauce 2 cans (15 oz. each)
Large white onion, finely diced 1
Egg noodles 1 package (8 oz.)
Sour cream 1 cup
Cream cheese 1 package (3 oz.)
Shredded sharp Cheddar cheese 1/2 cup (or more)
Garlic salt 1 teaspoon
Regular salt 1 teaspoon
White sugar 1 teaspoon

How To Make Ground Beef Casserole:

  1. Step 1: Brown the Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the 1 pound ground beef until no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess grease. Stir in 1 teaspoon garlic salt, 1 teaspoon regular salt, 1 teaspoon white sugar, and the 2 cans tomato sauce. Simmer for about 20 minutes, then set aside.
  2. Step 2: Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the 8 oz egg noodles and cook until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to prevent sticking.
  3. Step 3: Mix the Creamy Layer: In a bowl, blend the 1 cup sour cream, 3 oz cream cheese, and the finely diced onion until smooth.
  4. Step 4: Assemble the Layers: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
    • Spread half the noodles across the bottom.
    • Spoon half the creamy mixture on top.
    • Add half the beef sauce.
    • Repeat the layers (noodles, creamy mixture, beef sauce).
  5. Step 5: Bake to Perfection: Sprinkle the 1/2 cup (or more) Cheddar cheese over the top. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  6. Step 6: Serve & Enjoy: Let it rest for a few minutes before serving warm with garlic bread or salad.
