BANANA BREAD BROWNIES

These Banana Bread Brownies are the ultimate hybrid dessert—they have the comforting, familiar flavor of a classic banana bread but with the dense, chewy, and moist texture of a brownie. What really takes this recipe over the top is the browned butter frosting. By toasting the butter until it develops those nutty, golden specks, you create a caramel-like topping that perfectly complements the sweetness of the ripe bananas and the crunch of the pecans.

Ripe bananas (mashed) 3 large
All-purpose flour 2 cups

How To Make Banana Bread Brownies:

Step 1: Prep the Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan with nonstick spray, line it with parchment paper, and give the paper a light spray as well.

Step 2: Mix the Batter: Using an electric mixer, cream together the sugar, sour cream, and butter (and eggs, if using) in a large bowl. Add the mashed bananas and vanilla, mixing until blended. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, then fold in the chopped pecans.

Step 3: Bake and Cool: Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 20/30 minutes.

Tip: Check for doneness at the 20-minute mark. Since these are “brownies,” you want them moist, but a toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean. Let them cool completely before frosting.

Step 4: Brown the Butter: Slice the chilled butter and heat it in a heavy skillet over medium heat, whisking often. Once it foams and you see light brown specks on the bottom with a nutty aroma, immediately pour it into a mixing bowl to stop the cooking.

Step 5: Whip the Frosting: Add the powdered sugar to the browned butter 1 cup at a time, stirring after each addition. Add the milk and vanilla, then use an electric mixer to blend until smooth and creamy.

Step 6: Finish and Serve: Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies. Once set, cut into bars and enjoy!
