Baking soda 1/2 teaspoon
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon
Ground nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon
Unsalted butter, softened 1/2 cup
Granulated sugar 1 cup
Large eggs 2
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Sour cream 1/2 cup
Peeled and chopped apples 2 cups

Brown sugar, packed 1/4 cup
Ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon
Unsalted butter, cold and cubed 1/4 cup

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Crumble Topping:
    • In a medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
    • Add cold, cubed butter and mix until crumbly. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Cake Batter:
    • Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
    • Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add dry ingredients and sour cream to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
    • Fold in chopped apples.
  4. Assemble the Cake:
    • Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
    • Sprinkle crumble topping over the batter.
  5. Bake the Cake:
    • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
