For The Batter:
– Butter, softened 1 cup
– Sugar 2 cups
– Eggs 2
– Buttermilk or homemade
buttermilk (milk + vinegar/
lemon juice) 2 cups
– Flour 4 cups
– Baking soda 2 teaspoons
For The Cinnamon/Sugar Mixture:
– Sugar 2/3 cup
– Cinnamon 2 teaspoons

Instructions:

  1. Begin by creaming together the softened butter, 2 cups of sugar, and eggs in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add in the buttermilk, flour, and baking soda, and mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  3. Grease two loaf pans and pour half of the batter (or slightly less) into them, evenly distributing it between the pans.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix 2/3 cup of sugar with the cinnamon to create a delightful cinnamon/sugar mixture.
  5. Sprinkle 3/4 of the cinnamon/sugar mixture over the batter in the pans.
  6. Add the remaining batter on top of the cinnamon mixture and then sprinkle the last of the cinnamon topping.
  7. Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon mixture through the batter.
  8. Bake the loaves in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the loaves to cool in the pans for about 20 minutes before carefully removing them.
